What is This?

I know it is a knife, but can anyone tell me anything about it?

I purchased it today at an antiques fair in Abingdon, Virginia.

I love how ornate it is, and it was in my price range ($2.50) - I love it even more that it is cracked...kind of like me!

I'm linking this up to several blog parties:  You can read about Southern Hospitality's blog here.

  1. Hit Betsy,
this is a breakfast knife with ivory or ivory imitation handle. They have been very common in Great Britain and very similar, just with a pointed blade they have fish knifes. The sets includes usually forks with the same handles. For exemple you can see a set here:
Yours is very sweet engraved and a real bargain.
    Greetings, Johanna

  2. Beautiful knife. You made a great find. Thanks for sharing!!!
